You are entitled to your opinions but you are seriously misguided. Information can only be given that is entirely accurate and we were not able to do that. Yes, we could have given the information about the filly, but not until after the Mile, and it seemed inappropriate to do so without any news on Wanderin Boy at that time. We agonized over the decision but felt we made the correct one.
We do the very best job we can relaying information. This information comes through the press office....as I'm guessing it does at every racetrack.

And it's not like you guys are Dr. Larry Bramlage who is in direct contact with the state vets at the time on injury. Even then the vets at the scene are only assuming the nature of the injury. Untill xrays are taken and evaluated should there be an announcement by on air broadcasters.

I understand why announcers can't give any information at all about the status of a horse, but why can't they report on what we are all seeing on TV? I was watching the race on HRTV, and you could see during the running of the race that something had happened to Wanderin Boy and that he didn't finish, and then when they showed the replay you could see that the jock had jumped off of him. Why couldn't Jon or Millie acknowledge what was just shown on their broadcast?

BTW - Oh, please. Nobody is asking for unconfirmed details or speculation. Re-read what I wrote.
The last we saw and heard about the filly was (if one was still watching) the camera following her past the line and seeing the jock start to pull her up, and she looked like she was limping. Then the camera cuts out. She just won a stakes race. What is happening? Nothing. Silence. Then the order of finish, posting of payoffs, on to the next race, who do you like, baby? That's ridiculous. Absolutely Durkin should have come on immediately and said something simple like, "The winner of the race, Springside, was pulled up by Gomez after the wire, she is being loaded into the ambulance and Gomez appears fine. There will be no official winners circle presentation" Everybody saw in the stretch run of the Mile that Wandering Boy was being pulled up and he was moving badly. What followed? Nothing. Silence. Yes, after that race Durkin should have immediately come on and after reading the order of finish, should have mentioned that Wandering Boy had been pulled up in the stretch run and is being attended to on track by the track vet (if that was the case. Or loaded into the ambulance, etc. And if the jock walked off or not) Nobody has to give lots of details or speculate on the nature or prognosis of the injury. Leave that to the later press to ferret out. At least acknowledge what we all just saw a glimpse of, and instead of leaving the audience wondering what the hell just happened and worrying about it, give us a hint of what is happening now, instead of being silent and pretending it didn't just happen.
