In 1996, Wrona called the Arlington Citation Challenge at Arlington Park, in which Cigar won his 16th consecutive race. The win tied the previous record of nearly 50 years held by Citation.

On December 10, 1999 at Hollywood Park, Wrona called the race that saw Laffit Pincay Jr pass Bill Shoemaker for most career victories by a jockey. Nearly seven years later, on December 1, 2006, Wrona was the announcer for the race at Bay Meadows in which Russell Baze passed Pincay for the same honors.

Looks like he has called races at Hollywood,Lone Star and Retama as well as Bay Meadows,GG,FG and Arlington as said above. The guy gets around and that "Racing" thing at the start is probably his signature if such can be so.

That's all nice, but did he ever call a Pepper's Pride race?

They should hire the fat guy from TVG that does impersonations. Have him do Karl Childers only. It would be better than listening to this crap. Jesus christ this guy sounds like he's 5 years away from having his balls drop.

When CD bought the Fair Grounds in 2004 they decided not to hire him because he was requesting $500 a day. They also didn't like his work ethic because he would show up 5 minutes before the 1st race and would be gone prior to the nightcap being official. Having said all that, I consider him a top tier announcer. I just think he rubs people the wrong way. I was surprised they are considering him for the position knowing his past.

Your comments on Wrona's work ethic are preposterous, and $500 per day is not an unreasonable request for a "top tier announcer."

Wrona is a very good racecaller, one of the best.

Why would him leaving after the last race matter? You think hes going to hangout in the booth all night long and look over the track, someone going to steal it?

The guy is very good, and the guy from England is very good.

500 a day seems cheap to me. Should get 100 per race.
