Default ESPN again uses confusing camera angles

Oh well I guess I should be watching the webcast instead. That blimp view or whatever is just plain disorientating!!

Why they just don't give us the standard split screen live is beyond me. They can use the other cameras for replays, but during the live running we need to have the split screen. It's what we're all used to, and gives the best view of the running race. TVG does the same thing. Drives me crazy when they don't use the track video feed.

Same BC BS year after year.....

They just refuse to do anything to help the player follow the races on TV or at the tracks getting simulcast. The weirdest thing of the day was hearing Todd TVG on the voice via youbet's feed.

The best day of racing is spoiled by the lack of adequate technology which has become the industry the other 364 days a year....yeah I know you can follow the silks but why should you have to work so damn hard to watch a race....

While the CALRACING web stream was just what the doctor ordered,

it seems that they're NOT showing the REPLAYS of the BC races on their site.

Beautiful.

Amen to that

yes, next thing they will try is the XFL camera angle where they zoom in so tight you won't have any idea where the horses are anywhere.. shoot. I am afraid I just gave some a brilliant suggestion. I can hear it now... "lets do like they did for that movie Seabiscuit"

That's just hilarious, sadly. I long ago gave up trying to watch racing on ESPN and the XFL analogy sums it up better than I ever could have. I got so dizzy trying to watch ESPN racing that I was ready to vomit.

The worst part is the freaking start shown from ground level. you can hardly tell if your horse broke good or bad then have to try to pick them up when they change the angle going into the first turn. The blimp angle is interesting if they show it afterwards and you can see exactly what path your horse was in because you already watched it one time and know where to look. Otherwise it was awful. I'm sure that they think this is appealing to "new fans or the general public". It's 'cutting edge'! It is a fuc kin joke!

And someone should tell them overhead shots showing that half the parking lot is empty is probably not a good idea when you are trying to showcase a 'big event'.

I think that a lot of complaints that are made concerning the game or BC are sometimes misguided or unrealistic but the coverage of these races on ESPN is really close to unwatchable.

The whole telecast on ESPN ispointed to the audience the Breeder' Cup thinks will suddenly embrace horseracing. Even the casual "horseplayer" is left out. Handicapping, that is, the game of examining and weighting various factors is ignored. The concept that people bet on horses is ignored. Where do they think the purses come from?

Better than last year when I needed an air sickness bag because of all the camera angle changes but still abysmal. First you see all the horses but can't tell a thing, then you see the top 4-5 and have no idea where your horse is, and then you see a Google image from space and see most of Arcadia.

Who thinks these things up? I want a job like that where I can do that bad.

Hank and his piggy bank wagers. No respect at all.

In all seriousness, you do realize not all of us can gamble? I mean a lot of people they're trying to reach can't do anything as far as wagering goes given our locations. If they stopped to explain why they went with a certain pick 6 I'd probably zone out. I really don't care. I know other people do but as the typical betting image is one of an old guy smoking with his head shoved in the Form at an OTB, good luck romanticizing betting. The handle seems to be doing pretty well as it is and in the economy we got now, you really wanna be trying to use this as an opportunity for newbie folks with a family to use what little disposable income they may have on the next optional claimer at Santa Anita? The money for ESPN and ABC is in the sponsors. They'd much rather I take my dough and buy Grey Goose vodka to drown out Hank, then to take that same money and lay it down on the BC Classic. The big gripes are things like attendance and since people can bet without going there, what you wanna do is promote the sport itself. I didn't get into it for love of the exacta, but for love of the Black Stallion. It's in the stories. Human and equine interest stories... the bettors that are already out there know their importance. They don't need a shout out from Kenny and Randy beyond what they're already getting-- and I most certainly notice the occasional betting plug so you're getting it whether you realize it or not.

I just watched the 9th on TVG.

I agree that the camera shots are confusing. I had my horse in the middle of the pack on the far side, then lost him for good when they went to the overhead for a few seconds.

The sunlight on the saddle cloths didn't help in the stretch.
