Bases loaded...two outs...top of the eighth. JD Drew up to bat with Boston trailing 3-1.

He comes out in the 8th inning bases loaded with the whole world watching against one of the better left handed hitters in the league that has been clutch during this series. And he throws...slider...slider and then 96 mph heat.

he would have been in the majors in July if they Rays sucked. Didnt need him till now. They have Bay then all lefties except varitek. The only pinch hitters with a pulse Boston has are lefties (Casey and Lowrie)

Amazing thing is most of them are still several years from free agency. And the ones that get close that they can't afford they could deal for more prospects to keep the cycle going. They have such a stockpile of young talent that through shrewd trading they could stay a top team without having to pay them. Five years of success and they might develop enough of a fanbase to then start spending big money.

They dont have the park for it. They will certainly need a park and can you imagine that city helping to finance a new one?
