I have to think that the pitchers who threw **** piches choked more than the manager. He can only put them in, it is up to them to get guys out. You cant call time out in baseball. The guys who blew the lead are the same guys who have filled in those roles pretty well this year. Though i would have probably had more faith in Price who is probably the most talented pitcher they have.

I agree. If Boston ends up winning this game it could make a HUGE dent in the Rays psyche for the next two games.

Chip Carey must get paid by the game because he was putting the announcer mush on th rays that inning. upton is up and he is talking about trying for a triple for th cycle or an inside the park hr. then he says double play like 4 times during Pena's at bat and how few he hit into this year. then gleefully calls "Double play ball!!!!"

It 's like he is suddenly the John Sterling of Boston

I hear you. Again, though, i think a big part of a manager's job is to keep players out of situations where they have a good chance to fail.

Pitcher gives up a two run homer, a hard hit double to mark kotsay. He doesnt have it clearly. Why leave him in? Bring in somebody else to get that last out.

They didnt have a whole lot of options out there. Just bringing in different guys is hardly a sound strategy. Wheeler pitched Crisp tough. sometimes we fail to give the hitters the credit they deserve.

No way. That one's on Longoria. He had plenty of time to throw and it was a terrible hop for Pena.

I have to take partial responsibility for the mush in saying that it was over after Upton's double off of Papeldouche. Sincerest apologies to Bigs and Leo.
