You know, I had never actually seen a picture of the Duke of Wellington's wife - and was just going on what I remember hearing when I learned about him in my early days when I was fascinated by war strategy.

I googled and got this:

Pretty solid.

However, upon further reading, that must be the before pic.

Quote:
Pakenham had been a pretty, vivacious girl when Wellesley had met her ten years before, but she was thin, pale and in poor health by the time he informed Sparrow that he was returning to England and that she should "renew the proposition he had made some years ago" on his behalf. Pakenham feared that Wellesley felt bound by promises he had made ten years earlier and was in two minds as to whether to accept the proposal. Despite his more formal proposal after he had obtained her brother's permission, she insisted that he should see her in person before committing himself. Wellesley travelled to Ireland to meet her, and although he was obviously disappointed in the change in her (he said to his brother "She has grown ugly, by Jove!"), went ahead with the marriage.

Does anyone else remember back in the day when Steve Crist took over at the DRF? They would always show a picture of him that was probably taken his sophomore year in college.

In the pic, besides looking 12 years younger than he really was, he also had a bad porno mustache - but was otherwise clean cut and looked like he probably weighed 125lbs.

solid is a fine description of that 19th century beauty. so is rubenesque. bulky fits. as does fat. but solid was the best choice.

and to think she went downhill from that.

but i appreciate your ability to suspend 21st century sensibilities.

unless you were talking about porn mustaches. i'd have swung out the gene shalit reference for that. makes the jr's hit google themselves.

Solid just basically means you'd hit it and wouldn't be that shy about bragging about it afterwards.

IMO - she is solid in a delightfully plump kind of way.
