Thank George for giving me $600 in government tax money so I can redistribute it to his oil friends.

I am sure the guys at Sallee are loving this brilliant President's energy policy as they sacrifice food for fuel costs.

actually, he asked for a package, and congress gave him one. their rating is lower than his-we seem to have a lot of scorn right now for all our elected officials, and with good reason.
each side wants to point at the other, playing the blame game while trying to take credit when something, anything, goes right.
but it's been that way since 1800, i don't see it changing any time soon!

While the economy has a big affect the 11% could easly be attributed to the TVG,HRTv,Youbet and twinspires mess.Anoter shot in the foot and getting closer to fatal. Another example of the industry needing some type of national controls. Even with the downturn in the economy it looks like the wagering dollar is out ther but the limiting of the wagering outlets is the bigger problem. The sad thing is this can be fixed with a little cooperation even with the downturn in the economy.

100% correct. Handle's down in most places, as they've lost wagering outlets, which is limiting the amounts in the pools. If you throw away the home bettor or bettors at non-signal tracks, you're losing a good amount of money into the pools. That's a big problem for the industry, as more and more people have the races on tv at home and would wager on them from there, instead of going to their local track/otb. It's costing the tracks and horsemen (thru lower purses) a ton of $$, as mostly everything's based around actually being at the track... when the growth of the industry should be at-home betting thru the adw's.
