NFL is a now league, when you have the pieces you have to go for it. Look at the Bears for example, if they had any other QB then Grossman in the Super Bowl, they would have smoked Indy. Hell, if STEVE WALSH was the QB they would have won that game, albeit it would have been close. Look at the Bears now, two years removed, they will struggle to win 8 games, let alone make the playoffs.

I don't think Rodgers is the future. And selecting Brohm in the second round tells me the Packers front office doesn't either.

Bring Favre back, trade Rodgers and hand the team over to Brohm in two years.

Well..actually he has spent the last 3 off seasons in GB learning the system and working out. This is HIS team now, not Favres's.

IF...and that's a huge IF considering who he is replacing, Rodgers stays healthy (and Favre doesn't come back):

1) GB will make the playoffs
2) He will throw at least 25 TDs
3) His passer rating will be 90 or better
4) And he will throw picks...probably 15 or so
5) BUT..He will rush for enough yards to be in the Top 5-7 QBs running the ball

If you guys are under the impression that this wasnt a pre-meditated attempt by favre and his agent to get out of GB, you are extremely naive.

The lastest rumor, per the nfl radio channel, is that Favre's agent was actually calling teams immediately after the "retirement" to guage interest in Favre.

Favre wanted out. The team is not at fault and this could easily be a situation of happily ever after. Kind of like when Montana went to KC after all of the initial garbage. KC got to an AFC title game and the niners ended up winning another title.

I'll take the leap and buy your "rumors", which I don't believe. But why exactly did he want out of GB if not to retire? It's not money, it's not his relationship with McCarthey, it's not the talent surrounding him, it's not that he wants to play in a "big city"...so, what is it then? I mean...I lived in GB for four years and moved to Chicago as fast as I could so I'm not some naive Green Bay guy, but he genuinely liked living up there.

Rodgers played well. The rest of the team didn't. Grant was pretty much a no-show all season.

GB bounces back next year if Grant gets back on track and the defense stays healthy.

i don't think favre should take heat for retiring. he obviously felt pressure earlier to decide asap, and i guess he didn't think it thru--we all change our minds at times, and on something this important, i think he should be given a pass.

This has been going on for over 3 years. People seem to forget about this. This isn't new. When will it end? He has been given a pass by us as fans and the media more times than anyone else. No one forced him to make a decision this year. Ted Thompson begged for him to come back in McCarthy's first year as coach. Brett made his decision. His number is being retired on the first game of the year vs vikings, his locker was sent to him in MS. The packers have moved on and brett needs to do the same. favre still had damn good numbers the last few years, better than most of the other qb's in the league. i'm not quite sure why anyone has to 'move on'--it's football. all teams need a qb, what does it matter really if favre wants to play another year? how does it hurt anyone? hell, the pack made it to the post season last year-which is exactly what you want from your team--so how did favre staying hurt them last season? it's not as tho he is hurting his team by remaining-if the guy behind him was soooo good, he'd be the starter.
