No fairytale ending for Mine David Carr THERE was no fairytale ending for Mine, who never looked like capturing a fourth victory in the Ladbrokes Bunbury Cup. Mike Dawson's ten-year-old, who took the historic 7f handicap in 2002, 2005 and 2006, could not land a blow on his last race before retirement and was eased late by Frankie Dettori, eventually coming home 17th of 18 behind Little White Lie. “He was a bit slow out, I had a look at the two but I couldn't bridge the gap and I just let him come home on his own terms,” the jockey said. “He has done everybody proud his whole life.” Mine won ten of his 66 races and earned £355,000 in career prize-money. |
