Whats wrong with making random decisions about figures on a certain race that are supposedly meaningless?

I thought I read in an earlier post that the "quantification" of what kind of race the horses ran on a wet turf race was meaningless.

The figure is meaningless for more reasons than just the turf being wet.

So if you got a meaningless figure for whatever reason(s) it really does not matter how you adjust it. Its meaningless. Or we are trying to make a meaningless number meaningful? a bit confused.

I don't really care one way or another, I'm just wondering why it's so low in relation to a similar race (Pays to Dream in the Dixie).
