He's fragile and unproven and I refuse to call him a monster at this point (so I'll also take back my praise of UB's Heart - he's probably nothing special).
mint lane was always good, he won at pimlico, beat ichabod, who came back to run third... the pp's show mint lane has been solid. casino drive... 101 beyer, second career start at 70-80% fit ?

It's not a good idea to bank on this 70-80% fit thing. And if beating Icabad Crane is the measure of a good horse this game is really in trouble.

You can't really believe anything a trainer says about his/her horses. . . (Sadly I didn't listen to my own advice today.)

It has nothing to do with caring about the horse - how can they quantify a horse's fitness level like that? Especially when he's so lightly raced?

Those Japs rock those horses out.

When I was living in Australia, a trainer told me that anytime a horse was returned from Japan or Hong Kong that it would lose it's mind and cower in the stall if an asian walked by or was anywhere around.

Apparently they are pretty rough on them, this is just hearsay though. And more Hong Kong than Japan due to the constant back and forth with the Aussies and Hong Kong runners.
