I'm so used to that policy on the pick 4. Who gives you a consolation if your horse scratches in the last leg of a p4 that you're live for?

The 8 was always the favorite.
This is the same rule every track has.

consolations do not pay very much.
I can do you one up. Met Mile Day 2005, the year Ghostzapper won. I had the 1 entry in the pick four with one other selection and that horse was named Sovereign Kit. One half of the 1. entry was scratched in the paddock. Since one half of the entry scratched ,the other half was declared a purse only runner. That purse only runner was the horse I loved and the reason I made the entry a part of my ticket. Well he won and the other horse I had Sovereign Kit finished a close 3rd behind the second place finisher. The rest of the ticket won out and I was on the outside looking in. |
