I disagree. The Premiership and Champions League seem pretty popular, at least where I am. It's also a very dedicated following.. My guess is at least 60% of Premiership fans are watching this. What percentage of racing fans watch the Derby Draw? 25%?

What's the population of soccer fans versus horse racing fans? Then you're percentages will make more sense.

I'm pretty sure there are more U.S. soccer fans than horse racing fans.

As popular as soccer is or isn't, this is ridiculous.

MLS is not soccer.

Bad example.

I can't recall the last time a soccer match made the front page of any major United States newspaper... while horse racing tends to at least once or twice a year.

Let's see, are you a football fan?

If so, then the MLS is equivalent to NFL Europe....

...or if you're into other sports, MLS = your local softball beer league...or MLS = The Swiss Pro Basketball League...or MLS = your local club championship in golf.....or MLS = The Jamaican Bobsled Team...

I am a huge soccer fan and haven't watched more than 15 minutes of an MLS game. It is unwatchable.

I'm pretty sure a freaking soccer announcer wouldn't know any horse racing fans either.

Comparing MLS to the Derby is equally ridiculous.

Only soccer that makes sense to me is for kids, I'll take football in high school over it anytime!

I'm not disputing soccer on a worldwide scale, but on a US-base scale, I question its overall popularity, that's all.
