I see him as a grass horse who's owners see a chaotic Derby scene and figure "What the hell?" From my vantage it is crazy but I have never been close to having a colt with nice breeding for 10f who is eligible for the Derby...
If this was a more "normal" year with a couple of very clear leaders, they might pass. In a year like this when so many wildcards keep turning, I guess they seem to figure that they must take a shot.

even with very clear leaders, you'd still have a 20 horse field. when's the last time we didn't have one?

When was the last time you saw Motion with a really good dirt horse? Just wondering.
