I like Denis of Cork and Cool Coal Man as my price horses but think most of the favorites are solid. I'll probably use DofC, CCM, Pyro, Colonel John, Tale of Ekati, and Big Brown (defensively) in the PK4.

wait... what about.... court vision, cowboy cal, and monba ???

He's a turf horse - bred primarily for turf and all of his good races have been on some form of turf. I know, I know. . . his race on dirt was his debut so it may not be indicative of his true ability on dirt. But, I'm not willing to bank on a Giant's Causeway taking to dirt when he's unproven on it. He's also not very fast (figs may not be as accurate because they were on turf/poly). Even if he did run as well on dirt as he does on grass/rubber there are a bunch of horses that have proven to be much better than him. His odds will be vastly overlaid because he's a Pletcher/Johnny V. and because he got 2nd in a G1 on a surface that is nothing like the one at CD.

I honestly think Pletcher wouldn't be sending Cowboy Cal if it was a typical year where he had 3-4 other derby-worthy horses. But being that he and Monba are his only two, he's giving it a shot.

I like court Vision, but I think I may key him in 3rd and 4th in some tris and supers. I just don't see him having enough speed to suck up past 3rd.

Monba I do like. Plus, I believe he broke his maiden going 2 turns at Churchill so he's not just a synthetic runner.
If you toss the Fountain of Youth, where he obviously had excuses, he would be near the top of many people's list.

There's no such thing as a bias on polytrack. It changes every race.

Cowboy Cal is slow. Reminds me of Cowtown Cat.

Yes, but he is sired by Giant's Causeway.....

Doesn't that alone entitle him to be a great horse who can do anything and beat anyone?

I disagree about the bias, it was closer strong for the first couple days, yesterday speed did pretty well.

I don't know what to say about this reference of Cowboy Cal to Cowtown Cat.

Don't you think Cowboy Cal could do some damage in the turf, where he belongs? Cowtown Cat hasn't won a race since I don't think, couldn't even win at Morty Downs

Wow, I really have figured out why PG likes Cowboy Cal so much....

Not only is he sired by Giant's Causeway....

But he is very closely related to Commontator in his tail-female family.

PG's favorite stallion and his favorite active race horse!

The fact that speed did well does not a bias make.

On turf, sure Cowboy Cal could make some noise.

You are right, it wasn't a bias per say, but speed was alot better then normal yesterday.

They still have a real bad rail problem there, first three paths are absolutely quicksand...
