You would love Retama.
Not for the racing.

For the simulcasting.
Got a machine to myself and every track in
the country on TV. For a whopping 2 bucks.
I hear these tales of trashy OTB's in NY and
I realize I have my own heaven.

My in-laws that live in LA where shocked at
the facility for wagering (they have since moved back).
Went to Hollywood upon a visit
and honestly in was the biggest trashiest dump
I have been to. Maybe its cleaned up.

Guess I should have gone to Santa Anita when
they had all those 4 horse fields.

ATM is in a town called Bryan. And thats about
all there is. Austin would be equivalent to California.
Keep Austin Weird T-shirts everywhere. Very liberal town.

And look up Trinity University in San Antonio. Its always rated
in the top 20 small private schools. Never would have accepted me,
my daugher, but not me.

HOLLYWOOD PARK is never gunna be nice. Atleast they have an IN-N-OUT Burger next door now...I live in the hills between HWD PARK and the 10 FREEWAY.Actually it's a couple blocks north of the Inglewood City limits, but there are no buildings blocking my view of the Pacific Ocean (about 5-6 miles away.)Here,I will show ya...

Half way up the left side is a jet that has taken off from LAX.

Very nice.

I loved LA along the coastline last I visited.
Palos Verdes overlooking the Pacific.
The temperature in the summer was incredible.
Everyone was exercising. I got to run along the
strand.
Water is way damn cold though.

But once you start moving inshore. Temp changes,
and so does the city.

Yea,in some ways,as you move inland, it's not only a temperature gradient, but also an income gradient.Elevation is a complicating factor though. All the hills and mountains keep people with money from living in just one geographical area. For instance, that whole area in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains(i.e. Santa Anita) is expensive. The lower areas(centers of the 2 valleys) aren't as desirable. Then you have areas (like around Dodger Stadium) where it can go from poor to wealthy by just going up a hill for a couple blocks.

Palos Verdes and La Jolla are 2 areas that "jet out" into the ocean. The areas directly north and south of them are ocean. You can see why they would be nice places.Malibu is a bit that way(the area south of it is all ocean.)

There is actually a restaurant called the In-N-Out. I thought that was just made up in the Fletch movies.
