If it is anywhere near the speed of the track the last time Curlin won and when Jalil won his prep then he should threaten it. If it is faster than those days he should be able to break it with relative ease.

2000 meters isn't actually a mile and a quarter.

since they're going roughly 55 ft/sec, you can then expect 2000 meter races to be about .69 seconds faster on average than 1 1/4 mile races, all other things equal.
