The horse has never been in that position before. Im surprised he didnt spit it quicker than he did. All a learning experience.

Alot better than he is? Until today hes an undefeated champion whos never had a horse with in a length and a half of him at any point in time, in any race.

Everything go his way? He needs the gate to open and have his head set. He just needs a fair chance like any horse needs. Hes the most talented horse in the country and its just insane that they dont do a better job in the gate for a race like that.

Yeah, all that, ok. But why didn't he go on as they were going into the first turn? Maybe the jock yanked him out of there but again, the loss is explained but why didn't he at least run through the first 1/4?

Maybe they planned toexperiment today anyway but I think he spit the bit with 1 Mile to run when he didn't push through those two on either side.

I neither love or hate. He's a nice horse still but they all get beat.

I never thought that he was the most talented horse in the country. I certainly did think that he was better than what he showed today though.

Declan, if a confirmed front runner whos never been behind a horse in his life misses the break what do you think the plan is? You know you have a horse going to the Derby, would you A) Rush him up and bottom him out trying to win B) Put him between horses and let him get some education C) Just make sure he gets home safe and live to fight another day.

It has nothing to do with how good he is. He lays over that bunch anytime he breaks clean.

He had ample opportunity to split the foes around the first turn. Good front-running horses overcome bad breaks all the time.

Now I admit, noone really knows what Zito had planned for him today. For all we know, he could have instructed the pilot to sit right off of the lead, and pounce on the backstretch.

It would be foolish to strain a horse that already has the graded earnings to make the KD gate. But it's also foolish to think that he will have the dream setup in a race like the KD. Adversity faced him and beat him. What lies in the cards for him in future races remains to be seen. Hopefully, he came out of it okay, so that we will have the chance to bump this thread at a later date and you say "I told you so" to me.

I hold your opinion in high regards with the horses. How can a horse that NEEDS the lead, get an ideal setup in a 20 horse race, and overcome all adversity tied into such a race??

It was rumored this morning that War Pass was not feeling well a few days this week. Looks like that was true. War Pass didn't run alick today and I am glad that I'm not holding a future bet with his name on it.

I have reservations about him getting a mile and a quarter Jim, that being said he will take all the beating at CHD come Derby day. If he breaks clean hes either gonna give it up late, or gallop like he usually does.

That wasnt a minor bump, thats a major unsettled break, and being pinched back and rushed

i'm with you. he showed NO guts today at all. he'll never stand up to the bump and grind in a 20 horse field.
