I just put Bird up because he was my favorite. There were many others from that generation that knew game, understood the game and played the game hard...everynight. These kids today in the NBA are punks. Buncha damn sissys.

Did my eyes deceive me...or was that a Jack Sikma sighting early on in the video I posted??

We have this conversation all the time Pat. I used to LOVE the game of basketball, but I just can't bring myself to watch it anymore.

My uncle was a coach for 40 years...I could sit and listen to him talk about it for hours.

It is still a great game.
The NBA has done a horrible/great
job attracting the bling. They set
these guys up like this. All the replays
are dunks, very few great passes shown.

If you watch Detroit, Boston (this year),
San Antonio. You get to see much more
Team defense and Team offense.

What I cant stand is the horrible defense.
When guys dont even try to help out,
they only worry about their own man.

Sure.

Play with the sissies then.I suppose you're another one who claims James beat Detroit one on five, but his crummy team mates are the ones who lost to San Antonio.

Of course not.
San Antonio played defense
that completely revolved around
James inaccuracy as a shooter.

They relied on his penchant of
going full bore to the hole with a
head of steam. They would not let him
do that.

Morton you have got to see this guy
is an unbelievably talented athlete.
I have been watching basketball a long
time and have never seen anyone with
his size and strength have the incredible
mobility he has with the ball.

Also too many teams and too many
games imo Kev. 82 games is ridiculous.

I give up Avery!! You were right on point tonight once again!! LeBron will have the best poker hand in the NBA tonight however. 7 rebounds...7 assists...7 attempted 3 pointers...7 TURNOVERS!! Down 96-94 13 seconds left...offensive foul....down 101-99 6 seconds left...missed 3 pointer.

As much as I attempt...you are still the master.

(he did make all his foul shots in the 4th quarter tonight!!)

Oh...they lost again. The King had 7 turnovers and was 1 of 6 from the 3 line. I thought they weren't supposed to lose if he plays?

That's 0-2 without Z ,but with Lee.

I have never said this ever. Why do you always go to this? The simple facts are in this NBA season, they have missed, LeBron, Hughes, Pavlovic, Gibson, Z, Varejao for longer than 5 game periods at a time. Over 20 without Varejao and Pavlovic...approaching that with Gibson. 7 now without Z. My claim has always been that with these what I consider decent players. Not great players...not necessarily top players...although Z is certainly good, that the Cavs will win. They played above .500 ball in the recent stretch with Varejao and Pavlovic missing....above .500 with Gibson missing...now above .500 with Z missing. They went 0-6 with LeBron missing. The evidence is quite overwhelming. They are still 37-23 when LeBron suits up regardless of whom else is injured on any particular day. No matter how bad or good I or you or anyone else thinks the rest of the players on the team are...you still need the best of what you have to compete adequately. I simply think that their record when LeBron plays speaks to how good he is. And despite his late game slip ups the last two nights...especially tonight which may have cost them the game...he has had multiple superb performances in the 4th quarter time and time again this year. I go back to the back to backs in LA and Portland in January.

You have brought out his weaknesses as has pga time and time again. I grant you guys that. Maybe he is overrated. I simply don't think so. The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the worst franchises in all of the league if you take away the 1976 season and the teams of the late 80s and early 90s...for the most part a horrendous franchise. I don't know how you can think despite your own personal disdain for the man and how he plays and his horrible efforts...how despite all that you can't say he hasn't been a boon to the franchise. for christ sakes they have 4 playoff series wins the last 2 years...the same number they had from 1970 through 2005. Forget just a second all the high school hype...the ESPN games in high school the magazine covers...all of that. What has happened to the franchise since he joined the team?? Yes, he has teammates and they are needed...but do you in all honesty think if the ping pong balls didn't go their way, they are in the finals last year?? As a fan I don't really care about his ego, about his money, about anything really. all humans make mistakes...he drives too fast, he wore a Yankee cap...dumb stuff. But for the most part he has made the Cleveland NBA team relevant if not single-handedly...darn near close to that. Those are the facts as I see them.

I have always said this:

He is OVERRATED....he is not the best player in the league....people down play the players he has had around him because they need to play him up....and ,of course, he loves that.

I don't like him ...I wish he wasn't here and I don't give a flying fucl< about what anyone thinks of it. I wish he was not here.I think a trade would bring a better team here.

It's basketball.....it's not civil defense.

You have yet to explain that despite missing a truck load of his complimetary players almost every game this year how the team's record is 37-23 when he plays?? That is not bad at all.

So do you really think they'd be a better team with Chirs Bosh, or Carmelo Anthony or Dwayne Wade instead of him??

Name the players you would trade him for straight up 1 for 1 deal just out of curiosity.

And you started this thread expecting no replies to the contrary?? Interesting. It would certainly seem to me you do give a flying fucl what people think about it or you would never talk about it. You are very interested in people knowing you have strong opinions contrary to the majority on this topic as you saw great need to start this thread with the same statements by all participiants as the last 15 times it evolved.

LeBron is OVERRATED...yes.

I still think this thread should now turn to someone very UNDERRATED...that would be...

Jhonny Peralta. I'm looking for big things in 2008!!
