2. Randolph has 8 ties, 6 pairs of pants, and 4 dress shirts. How many days could he possibly go without wearing the same combination of these three items?

3. John is a mechanic. He makes $8.50 an hour, plus $3 extra for every oil change he performs. Last week he worked 36 hours and performed 17 oil changes. How much money did he make?

4. A box of staples has a length of 6 cm, a width of 7 cm, and a volume of 378 cm cubed. What is the height of the box?

5. What is the average of all of the integers from 13 to 37?

6. A basketball player averaged 20 points a game over the course of six games. His scores in five of those games were 23, 18, 16, 24, and 27. How many points did he score in the sixth game?

7. Arnold is about to go on a 500-mile car trip. His mechanic recommends that he buy a special highway engine oil that will save him 50 cents in gas for every 25 miles of the trip. This new oil, however, will cost $20. Is it worthwhile for Arnold to buy the oil if he has a coupon for $4 dollars off the price?
All extremely basic Algebra.
Very interesting anyone would use
this type of test. I would use something
that required more memory, for QB's especially.

I would not give this test to a secretary that should
be able to type 70 words/min.

Agree, but keep in mind you have 12 minutes to answer 50 questions, which is a little over 14 seconds per question. For some people, it takes 14 seconds to actually read the question, like me.

I consider myself very strong at math, but when it comes to reading, I lack speed and comprehension.

Excellent point Scavs.
There are a whole lot of kids
that are very good at a particular skill,
it just may take them longer for whatever reason.

Still dont think this has anything to do with quick physical reactions in 3-d. Might have them play some video game in 3-d goggles.

i know i couldn't do well on that test BUT, snap me the ball, set the play in motion and i could tell you where everyone was "supposed" to be and where i was "supposed" to throw the ball. OR let everything completely brake down and let me "make-it-up" as i go... i'd be just fine.

Its not Algebra if they only give you 12 min.
Its number sense.

yeah I know, I am pretty pissed at myself because what I did was go through the questions and answered the ones I knew the answer to right away, and then worked my way back, and to see which ones were solvable from a time management perspective. One of the questions was.

A bag of seeds cost 16.4 cents, and the price was recently raised to 20.5 cents, what is the increase in terms of a percentage?

I put 20% and went to the next question, and after I handed it in, I refigured it to be 25%, I spent an additional 15 seconds on it and I get it.....

I loved it, not only because I did well but because it was really interesting.

These test are biased.
They should ask questions like:
1. If you have $3000 when you enter the strip club and table dances are $20 and you leave with $40, how many dances did you get?

2. If you have 7 children with 4 different women, how much child support will you owe if you have to give up 40% of your salary of $12.4 million?

They would have much higher scores

If you throw a bag of 500, $100 bills in the air at a strip club in Las Vegas, and the AC is blowing 2 MPH from right to left and there are 16 strippers grabbing 3 bills a minute, how long will your suspension be?
