Besides finding out who won and lost ... you can't learn a damn thing from a box score....

The major exception being hockey in the regular season.

The box score lists the exact times that the fights happened - and when all the satellite channels show the replays of the games - I'd try to tune in and catch as many as I can.

I would much rather play a race with 14 first time starters than a turf sprint where the whole field has established form and I have no such sneaky horse.

Very true. YET, there are many out there playing races by doing 'calculations' of data that claim they not only are successful BUT also know the game.

So, why wouldn't I know more about these sports by crunching data than the guys spending 20 hours a day in the film room or those out there scouting the opposition? Imagine all the money that these franchises could save by emulating the PA model.
