What has not been noted is that Curlin may meet a tougher bunch of horses in his prep in Dubai that he would here. Honesty, which 4 allowance horses would be sacrified to Curlin could get legged up? A race for horses classified at 100+ is far more cometitive than beating up on Fair Grounds optional claimers this weekend.

I agree.....and I wasn't knocking them for it......I was just trying to be succinct.

I have a question about the whole racing versus breeding thing with Curlin. Is it possible that Curlin is racing because there were a number of complications that made it difficult, if not impossible, for him to get a legitimate breeding deal?

Whatever the answer, I'm thrilled that he's racing, but whether relevent or not, I'm not sure this is a purely magnanimous gesture.

Guys,

You're forgetting another contendor in Dubai... if he takes to stretching out-
Asiatic Boy. I'm debating how much he's run against over there, but in the last year he's pretty much won everything with relative ease on the dirt. Here's an article on him, and be sure to read the last paragraph

I love Asiatic Boy to bits but he still has to improve alot to contend with Curlin and others.. he has the potential, but the only times hes ever faced G1 horses, he hasnt done the business (albeit on turf!)

His ability to beat opponents like Diabolical at a distance too short for him proves he's a completely different beast on dirt than turf. I have loads of respect for Curlin (picked him in the Classic), but on dirt, I don't think Asiatic Boy has to improve [i]a lot[i] to win the DWC. Just my observation and opinion.

did you see what happened to Diabolical at the start of that race?

I think Asiatic could upset Curlin but first time going 10f against a horse with proven class like Curlin, I'd need a good price on it..

That's just it... It was on turf. Not dirt... Eventhough he'll be ripping up the dirt competition in Dubai until Woirld Cup day when he goes against the Americans, he'll be the "unknown". Because it's unknown if he's gone up against any dirt comeptition worth a sh*t over there. But you're right, value will be the key...

Any chance Tiago ships? He's gotten trounced by Curlin, but $$$ makes connections delusional at times lol.

I could just as easily argue though that the best run of his life was on turf..

I'm a little ignorant... what turf race was that? The pp's we get to bet on Dubai (at least at Canterbury Park in MN are pp's from maybe 5-6 of their past races, and no further back).

Curlin is better than Asiatic Boy at this point but I think Premium Tap will handle both of them.

his 2nd last race was versus Authorised and company over 10f in the Juddmonte. Didnt do too well, soft ground, Jamie Spencer was on board....

The time before that, on his European debut in the Sussex stakes, he ran a very decent race, a close 4th behind Ramonti. This was rated at least as good as his UAE Derby romp...

He's 6-1 to win the DWC here (Curlin is 7-4), which is plenty low enough. Id be more inclined to throw a bit on Latency at 25-1 instead..

Read it why... cause BH is slow to have the correct information at times?

His next start is the Burj Nahaar on Super Thursday (March 6th).
