I'm just not a big fan of the luck excuse. What stood out to me was New England going pass happy on their final drive. When they got down to the Giants 29 with a little over 4 minutes remaining I was certain they were going to run the ball and milk the clock.
Bottom line is they scored too soon. The only excuse I will give the Patriots is that Belichick seemed to be off his game last night...and the final offensive drive was an indicator. Either that or the hubris was on overdrive. |

So...is this the real Eli or is he reverting back next year? Personally, I think he made huge advances and has confidence and his teammate's confidence and will play closer to the playoff level that not next year. And as long as they have that running game, it will make his life a lot easier

His game against Green Bay was even better than this one. Mr. Coldweather Brett had trouble throwing the ball straight. Eli was a laser. Eli clutched out for 4 straight games AWAy. ONe in terrible conditions. The takeaway lesson for me is, even if you are the great Tom Brady, if you get dumped on your as s the entire game, its hard to have a good game. Brady was not good. It is hard to see how any QB could have been. So Brady basically plays perfect ball when not pressured. Dump him on his rear, he is like everyone else. Patriots also showed some arrogance in completely foregoing the running game. Bill B. made some arrogant decisions. |
