My only problem with posting records like this is, nice predictions, but did you put your $$$ where your predictions were? Did DaHoss actually make the wagers on those predicitions? I hope so, but just sayin... I remember Byk giving priase to GPK for predicting a big pick 6 at Tampa last winter. But then I asked the same question- "Kev, did you actually bet your predictions?", He said "No". That sucks. I mean I want people to get paid, but just sayin, make the wager too.

You can argue that they posted those predictions before the races were run, so what's the difference? Well depending on the size and cost of the ticket, you don't know if people would actually the same way they'd predict.

IN THE END THOUGH, I FIGURE MOST OF US FROM A WAGERING AND ANALYZATION STANDPOINT ARE PRETTY EQUAL. WE ALL HAVE GOOD AND BAD DAYS. I prefer opinions about horses that haven't been wagered on, because I'd call a good horse "a pig" if I bet on it and didn't run well. But the great thing (and bad thing) about horse racing, is on one race you can look like a genious, and the next an idiot.

Hossy MADE those wagers.. He just choses not to publicize his plays whether successful or unsuccessful. And obviously, he's under no obligation to do so. The point was made above that the 'what's your record' challenges during discussions of opinion are utterly pointless.

Oh, I disagree with all of this in many ways.

Perhaps many here do have similar opinions, but there are some who's understanding of the game stands above the masses, and those are the ones I am more interested in hearing.

I respect pretty much only the opinions of those who bet their money, as if you don't suffer as a result of bad opinions, you will never learn to modify and improve your opinion. For that very reason, most opinions seen here are random and inconsequential, because there is no punishment for being wrong. Maybe you call a losing horse a " pig " but those of us who are playing seriously actually try to determine if we made a mistake, so as not to repeat it in the future, or if circumstance perhaps prevented a decent opinion from coming to fruition. A successful player will make more correct evaluations than an unsuccessful one over time.

Looking like a genius is wonderful for your ego....but making money is what playing this game is all about. At the end of the day that is what really matters.

I thought I made some decent points, but after you dissected them like a wife, girlfriend, a cop, or a cross-examining attorney, and chewed them up, I agree with you. I hope I at least made it clear that I wasn't rooting against Hoss or anyone else that they didn't make those bets. I'm glad they did. I'm rooting for anyone on here to be successful and get paid.

About the part about looking like a genius, I'm saying that people are successful sniffing out winners, longshots, whatever that makes them successful. But in another race they might not even give the winner serious consideration, while someone else was touting the winner all along. You just hope that you're successful in the long-run and learn from your mistakes. So I completely agree with you there.

Wow, that was some foursome you compared me to. Ass hole would have sufficed....and been much kinder.

I didn't think you were rooting against DaHoss or anyone.

I apologize. That was a little harsh. I haven't been to the track since Sunday, and in between I've been spending time with the opposite sex and watching a lot of Law and Order on TNT. They had a friggin marathon on Monday. So I've been a little negatively influenced.

It was really the lawyer comparison that did it for me.

For the record, I wasn't even saying DaHoss has a bad record. I don't know his record at all. We all pick some good ones and we all pick some bad ones. Constructing a winning ticket though is far different, IMO, than analyzing talent. There have been plenty of times where I have not liked a horse to win a race but have played him on my ticket because I didn't want that logical horse to be the one that kept me from cashing. I would collect on the winning bet even though I had totally analyzed the race wrong. That just made me a better bettor, not a better analyzer of talent.

No, but you started this thread into a downword spiral by calling Pyro "a rat."

While Pyro is FAR from a true superstar - he is the current future book favorite for the Kentucky Derby - and every race of his career so far has been fairly solid.

DaHoss simply called you on your silly attention grabbing comment.

I hope they were the episodes when Ben Stone was still around.
