I see it as unlikely that he stays sound that long dude, but I said the exact same thing last year for a newly turned 3yo coming out of the exact same race, and he ran second in the bc sprint a few months ago.

Ok, perhaps the way I said it was a bit strong, but if this one stays sound, I see him as one of the top 3 sprinters around come BC time.

He does seem to like the SA cushion track too, which is where the BC is at. Of course, who knows what the track will be like once they modify it.

This was from horses that are running in a restricted state bred race and they were a cut below record setting graded stakes winners.

Turf horses seem to excell in route races on all synthetics.

They've got a surface at Del Mar where the Pacific Classic is run in a glacial 2:07 and change and horses struggle home after firm rating - and on the SA surface - A Cal Bred 3yo in Jan is capable of posting a 1:06 2/5th clocking over the Bonneville Salt Flats like Cushion track.

The track at Santa Anita was set up to use as an emergency use only and they will not use the surface again in that condition. The races will be cancelled today and they will start to work on repairing the drainage problems with a new mix of the existing surface.

Now if other tracks around the world start recording 6f times in the parking lot of Lowes then it's a world record, until then it's just trivia.

look, i understand about the track, the surface, and the speedy times being laid down.
but unless the timer malfunctioned, it'll go in the record books. it may not make it right, and the time may be an anomaly...but this isn't the first time a record was broken by a horse not considered to be a really good horse.
