I would not say he's unlucky to have that last name. THat last name is what got him being the top pick in the NFL draft and will likely get him more starting opportunities in the future when they won't be warranted.

He's nowhere near Peyton and he never will be. Its obvious now that the best QB of that class was Rothlesberger, not Eli.

that's true too. his name is both a blessing and a curse. but he should be compared to qb's in general, rather than to one very good one in particular.

I think in general, QB play really regressed this year. Yeah the two guys who were the best going into the season are still the two best. And Rothlesberger rebounded after an injury plagued disappointing 2006 season. The other guys to show improvement were Favre and Garrard. But Palmer took a step backward. Eli regressed, as did Rivers and Vince Young. Drew Brees finished well but started the season horribly. Grossman found himself on the bench less than a month into the season. When you see how few good QBs are really in the league, it becomes apparent how guys like Testaverde and Dilfer can stay in the league.
