It would be hard to argue with Ron Geary as the choice, but I'd have to go with Richard Shapiro. He stopped the ADW exclusivity on California racing. I can only hope that others with the power to do so will follow his lead.

Dean Richardson is a good choice. Other possibilities include:

Carl Nafzger
Harvey Pack
Cornelio Velazquez
Jeannine Edwards
Richard Migliore
Charles Hayward

My vote would go to someone who sort of transcended the sport into the mainstream somewhat and that is Calvin Borel.

I think that is a good point. To see him smiling after his wins, and then to have the formal dinner at the White House really did alot for the game to shine in the spotlight of mainstream sports. He is a great vote...
