i agree the salary is to high but..... if you were to have watched the brewers enuff last year you would also notice our bullpen cost us quite a few games and the division.

it was fricken brutal between wise and turnbow both going into the crapper. turnbow-headcase. and linebrink being a train wreck from sd.

that being said melvin has just picked up torres. with torres, riske, gangne and mota. the last 2 are big ?

i think melvin and the org are loading up this bullpen and like **** ,throwing it against the wall to see what sticks.

anything to try to get that mess cleaned up is fine by me. spent on somebody better maybe or maybe he will turn it around and give us at least something.

just watch out for the brew crew's bats. this team has just started to pound the ball

Melvin is scrambling to do all he can since they lost Cordero to an divisional rival in the Reds. The Reds paid Cordero 46 million over 4 years, which is ridiculous! I thought the crew offered him too much at $42 million for 4 yrs. I agree with pdrift, melvin is throwing them all at the wall to see what sticks. If one of them works out it is a good deal. Gagne for 1 yr is not as big of a risk as Cordero for 4 yrs at 46 million. Gagne may have lost it, but a change of scenary to the NL might do him good. All of the closers combined are not as expensive as it would be to pay Cordero. 1 yr deal gives Gagne a lot of incentive to pitch well, otherwise he is done.

your right the reds and us are and would have been nuts to give cordero a 4 year contract. 4 years for relief pitching at that price knowing how volatile relief pitching can be is just insane. the reds can have him for that.

that is my thinking also give him the 10 , its only a year, we don't need postionel players at all, there is no 1-2 starters we can afford so lets not bother with this market at this time. lets sit on our hands and see how are 6 starters , 2 new rookies fair and get this bullpen a little new look.

all we need is one of the 4 like you said to do it we also have shouse and aquino. something will come together. this was as good a job as melvin could do given the circumstances
