Oh please. All those Offensive juggernauts in Vandy, Alabama, Auburn, Miss St. Ol Miss, South Carolina...1/2 the conference has worse than average offenses. Arkansas runs the damn Veer. With the exception of Woodsen and Tebow there is not another good QB in the conference. With the exception of Florida, there is not a modern offense in the whole SEC.

Not surprisingly every one of those teams average significantly more points non-conference than they do in conference. Of course their overall numbers are going to suffer when 8 of their 11 games are in conference. If they all scored more than you'd complain about how much the SEC defenses suck. Hell, Mississippi is averaging 14.1 PPG in conference yet threw up 25 points on #1 (for a few more days) Missouri.

Have you seen the SEC nonconference schedule? I went through it game by game in another thread. Not only is the SEC's record against legit non conference teams barely over .500 but they were hammered on more than a few occasions. Missouri is averaging giving up 24 pts per game so it could hardly be considered an offensive explosion. They also managed 10 pts on offense against Memphis, 17 against La Tech and rolled it up against 4-7Southland conference foe NW LA State with 38. If you think that the SEC's strength lies in its offenses you must be watching only Florida and KY.

The way Louisville got beat by KY (when they simply didn't cover a wide reciever on 4th down and long with 50 seconds to go in the game) was as disgraceful a way to lose as I have ever seen.

We usually rate conferences in a comparative manner.

What conference is better than the SEC?

let's be honest, there is no great team out there. hell, you'd have a hard time finding 5 solid-in-every-phase teams.
playoffs are the only way.
btw, what does it say for the big east when cincy is gonna get stuck in a crappy papa john's bowl? they haven't done a very good job w/ the bowl tie-ins.

It does when it happens like that. Coaches have got the axe for much less. The Big East is relatively new when it comes to having multiple teams at a national level. What is crappy is 6-6 teams playing in bowls.

No doubt their nonconference schedule is disgraceful and in years where the conference is down as a whole I jump all over teams from the SEC going undefeated and then complaining about getting left out of the national championship when they played such a weak nonconference schedule. This year happens to be a very good year for the SEC. I am by no means an SEC fan, not even close. I just think the quality of football in the SEC is head and shoulders ahead of the Big East and the Big Ten this year and it is a joke that we are going to have a National Championship game between two one loss teams from those down conferences when there are two better two loss teams in the SEC (one of which lost twice in 3OT). Hell, if we had a playoff I might even take Florida over any of the teams currently ranked 1-3. They desperately need a playoff to end all of this BS.

Just tell me why you believe this? Florida is not as good as they usually are, GA is pretty good but not great , LSU is good but has 2 losses which could easily be 4, Tenn is about as good as they usually are, SC is not very good, miss st and Miss are weak as usual, Vandy is down compared to recent years, Arkansas is about where they usually are, Alabama is still weak, KY is better than usual but are still a 5 loss team. I actually think the SEC as a whole is down this year with no really outstanding teams and no out of the ordinary seasons from any of the middle of the road teams. I have already brought up the SEC vs. BCS schools record which is 7-7. There is just no evidence that this is true.

Those rankings are flawed in 2 ways. #1. is it favors the conferences with more teams because #2 It is basing it ratings on all non conference games including 1 AA teams. Therefore a conference with 12 teams will have 6 to 8 more easy wins than the 10 team conferences. And if you are such a big beliver in this system then why are you complaining about it's #1 and #2 ranked teams possibly meeting for the National Championship?

BTW-Missouri is not in the Big Ten
