Tough to take him at the current odds of 3-5, but he should romp. I wonder if the Clark at Churchill is what they are for or a race at the end of the year in CA.

I haven't seen the race yet, but based on the chart (http://www.drf.com/drfPDFChartRacesI...=20071012&RN=8) it looks like it was a pretty nice return off a big layoff, even considering the suspect quality of the competition.

definatly a probsbility for any of the stakes races that conflict with horses aiming for any of the BC races. Big question is the long range plans ,Cal or GP. Could be the right timing for the winter Stakes at GP.

But it's always come through as a platform for a couple top class horses, a couple of shippers, a couple of off-the-turf Europeans, a few up-and-comers, and a bunch of comebackers that dropped out of sight in the winter and spring. So in that regard, it will at least be interesting, and possibly, produce some good betting races. Last year yielded subsequent Grade 1 winners Latent Heat, Spring At Last, and Midnight Lute (1-2-3 in the Malibu) and BC Classic contender Awesome Gem took the San Fernando. In addition to Ravel and Tiago, we might add Great Hunter, Zanjero, Medici Code, Ten A Penny, Notional, Major Pleasure, Le Grand Trois, Idiot Proof, and whatever else next year. |
