Pat....if Im not mistaken, wasnt the original story that the authorities "stumbled upon" this dogfighting when they went looking for another guy, that was living at the house, for unrelated drug charges?

I have a hard time believing that it happened like that. They went to that house, knowing what they were looking for....and that was evidence of dogfighting.

ESPN radio was reporting that time was running out for vick to accept the plea deal. end of business today.
monday the racketeering charges are to come down. if thats the case vick could be looking at 2-6 years.
have you guys read the accounts of the other defendents yet?
before the first raid they hung several "under performing" dogs. a couple survived the hanging and were dround in 5 gal buckets of water.
there CAN'T be enough bad stuff happen to these guys, including vick!

his cousin was arrested for drugs, and listed that house as his address. they served a search warrant for drugs, and found all the dog fighting stuff. at least, that's what was reported originally.
BUT then it came out that people had called in the past about the house and alleged dog fighting.

But the indictment indicates that there has been someone on the inside for quite sometime. All the dates, places, times, $$$ involved going back a couple of years. You don't just stumble on that. I'm not as familiar with that area as Kev is, but I've been through there and he's right, it's BFE. No way they didn't know this was going on. I also saw last night that the state and locals are waiting to charge as well....

And apparently thats why he is more willing to deal with the Feds. The Feds might be able to keep the State away from him. If the State gets a hold of him, he is doing 2 years at least if convicted.

He is in a very tough situation. He may be willing to go to court if the Feds cant get the State to leave him alone.
Maybe his lawyers will try and pull race in and get a big public campaign going. Its worked before. They will trot out all these minor league white trash dog bettors that got probation and say whats the diff?

big difference between a spectator/bettor and an owner/bettor. bad news kennels was his--he funded it. it should be a bigger deal.

While i don't like vick as a person(he is an utter idiot) or a football player(Qb means you throw the ball and someone from your OWN team is supposed to catch it) I really don't see how a lifetime ban is called for here. Look at pacman jones. He's at a place and his entourage gets people shot and paralyzed, but hey he'll be back in a year. Hey its okay if you beat your wife or girlfriend, just serve your time and hey your back in the NFL. I love dogs as much as the next person, but I don't believe the NFL should be banning him for it. Let the NFL teams all pass on him and let him get a real job some where.

the lifetime ban would come from the illegal gambling. nfl wants NO PART of a scandal such as the one the NBA is facing. it is in their code of conduct that such a ban would result from gambling. the only betting allowed is on horse racing.

No doubt. But a jury is a great way to get a group of people together that really dont care to understand the diff. Or maybe not take that diff. into account if race overrides the actual charges.

Z can you imagine if there was big grass roots support for him that gets started again... Rev. Sharpton would be happy to enter the fray. But only if the ball gets rolling.

and it's up to vick and his lawyers whether they go in front of that jury....they don't have to make a deal. but kowing that additional charges are pending, and that his co-defendants all not only pleaded guilty but are available to testify--i think he'd better take the deal.
supposedly, they want a minimum jail sentence of a year, and vick wants NO jail time. he's in la la land with that one. so, at this point, we all know he's guilty, as an innocent man does not consider a plea....question is, length and severity of punishment.
