I'm not sure what the guy was supposed to do...from the head on it looked like the gate opened - the horse reared up and brushed his leg while she was up on her hind legs...no real place for him to go at that point - if the horse breaks cleanly it's not even a discussion....Personally I don't agree with the call

maybe the case, then that makes it worse, what nyra felt bad for the bettors that had a horse break poorly, can I get a refund on about 50k worth of bets due to poor breaks?

frankly this is getting old, between the non starts and the gate scratches its completely unfair to the bettor in trying to handicap a race. I have no clue why there are several at the gate scratches a day in ny.

If you look as his hand, I don't think he let go of the bridle quick enough when the gates opened and while holding it, may have caused the horse to rear. If that is the case, she should be a non starter.

I really have no clue, but the "non-starter" problem has happened more times in 3+ weeks than I have ever seen at a track.

I read an article that stated that the gate crew said there were a lot of horses that they were unfamiliar with this year.

My god, this is Saratoga! There's more than just N.Y. horses running here.
