I'm not saying that will be the excuse, but in my eyes the only way i can see him beaten is if he has an 'off' day. If he gets beaten a nose or something like that, then he will probably have been beaten by a better horse on the day. No one can doubt that fact that he is the best horse in the race BY FAR. On ratings he is the best horse on turf in the world.

Even if he runs 5lbs below his best, he should still win.
He will have to run a LONG way below his ability to get beaten. There, is that better?????? Probably not.

The race should revolve around Manduro, Lawman and Turtle Bowl. All three seem to like good ground rather than soft, so they should have their ground conditions. Turtle Bowl and Lawman are probably better milers than Manduro, but he should have too many guns for both of them, especially with a pacemaker making sure they go a good gallop.

Is Manduro still BCC bound?

I'd prefer that they didn't run him in the Arc because the combination of soft ground and 12 furlongs will probably be too much for him.

Coral bookmakers have him listed at 50-1 to win on sunday and follow up by winning the Arc and BCC..
Anyway, I think they are pointing him towards the Arc and will decide after if he can take the BCC. AT least he is in the right hands. Fabre knows what it takes. I believe that you need a tough horse to take to dirt and Manduro certainly has that profile despite his breeding (well not too many Monsuns have tried dirt Im sure!). He should win on Sunday with the aid of a pacemaker. He's much better than last year!!

As you say i doubt many, if any Monsun's have tried dirt. It's got that he handles faster ground, because most of them need it softer than soft usually. I'd love to see him in the BCC, i think a strongly run 10 furlongs will be his best trip. I'm not convinced that 12 furlongs will suit him that well.

Well today Manduro lived up to his billing.
He won with Holocene second and Turtle Bow third. |
