This year was the first year I ever paid for a seat at a racetrack for a big event. $110 for the Belmont. Never again. What a waste of money. I was at Monmouth for Point Given's Haskell. Didn't have a seat and did just fine. Got there early and parking was no problem. No problem with traffic getting to the lot. I seriously doubt that Monmouth will have that size of a crowd for the BC. And if they do, they will have all those temporary seats. I will make the 3 hour drive, pay $25 to park, and $50 to enter. Exorbitant, yes, but why would someone spend a fortune for a seat at a racetrack? How much time do you spend in that seat anyway? There is always someplace you can sit down and take a load off.

I sent them an e-mail this week and the response indicated that those who received tickets would be notified by no later than the end of this month... Given the comments in this thread, I'm assuming that I'm screwed because my credit card has not been charged...

I was at Monmouth a few weeks back and talked to one of the guys that works in group sales. I was planning on paying the $50 general admission too. After speaking with him, I'm not going to bother. According to him, general admission enty that day only give you access to the paddock side of the grandstand. Unless you've got reserved seating in the temp bleachers, you won't even be allowed out the grandstand doors on the trackside.

That is very true and very accurate. They are designing the infrastructure that way.

Also, I don't know all the nuances and idiosyncrasies on the ticketing, charging, etc. process; however, a NJTHA newsletter addressed the entire process. What I found very interesting is that I also received -- under seperate cover -- a very detailed letter from the President of the NJTHA on the very same subject; basically saying that if we wanted tickets the NJTHA would be requesting them and buying them on behalf of us. They were promised very good seats for the membership but had to get their allocation in early.

Anyway, after talking to a few people invovled in the entire process, it sounds to me like there are some things that need to be worked out. I don't know if anything is written in stone other than, unfortunately, many people being dissappointed.

As much as they said it was, I am not so sure what they said was written in stone -- was actually written in stone.
