Sometimes you are better off letting one relax themselves as opposed to holding them. It took just enough out of her to cost them the race. Mojica didnt help shooting up the rail with a crow, but thats where Willie makes all the difference, good or bad. Im a very bad jockey basher, but I always believe if you lose by a half you could have won.

I think she was the best horse in the race, when the best horse doesnt win its usually because of the trip, or ride.

While I agree that the ride wasn't ideal, I think that given the circumstances, it was a very good ride. I'm pretty sure that Willie was expecting at least a few others to go out for the lead early and that he could settle her behind them, but when no one even tried for the front, he had no choice but to grab it, and I think a filly like her DOES NOT want to give up the lead once she's got it. Then when the other two fillies came to him, she wanted to keep going, and that's what got her caught in that hot second quarter.

Or at least that's how I saw it.

I dont think it was a terrible ride at all, I think she should have won. Its more Mojica's fault on his 30-1 plug that cost her the race. Shooting that horse up the rail figured to liven the pace. I dont think she could have lost if he left her alone, I think all the guys riding that race knew if she got on a lonely lead it would have a greyhound race.

It looked to me like Willie had a snug and comfortable hold on her after she gave up the lead and all through the turn into the stretch. I thought she rated just fine...I really think he shot her on purpose from the start to get in good position in the 3 or 4 slot for the whole race.

That's how I saw it too ateam. Natural for any horse to not want them to pass and speed up in the process.

To be clear - those fractions were fifths ...

from the chart:

Fractions: :23.4, :46.3, 1:10.4, 1:23.2, 1:36.2 (:23.89, :46.79, 1:10.85, 1:23.42, 1:36.50)

man that is a tough one!!

she looked like the easy winner at the top of the stretch...

I wonder if Steve knew it is bad luck to be interviewed before the race (according to my horse owner friend John Perrotta).

yeah, we do. she's doing great, lots of excitement for sure!!! i know she's done more than we could have hoped for...hitting the board in allowances, paying her way and we're having a ball!

best $500 i have EVER spent. i'm just waiting for them to pull the trigger on the next one, this has been great.

How about the Glass Slipper at Ellis, part of the Claiming Crown, with a 75,000 purse?

That is a terrific idea given the normal track bias at Ellis. Inside speed always holds well there and if Sumwonlovesyou has shown anything, she has some early speed.

Congrats to all owners. I only wish I had been a part of the site earlier. I hope you guys are having a great time- you deserve it.

It was just an idea, and probably realistic. The biggest problem is that it is at 6f. There is no route for females only on dirt.
