If money's not real tight, and you want to see Chicago I would grab a hotel downtown or just off the Mag Mile. The Drake is nice as well as The Peninsula and Four Seasons. A little closer to the loop is The Burnham. You can take the train from inside OHare to the loop for $2. It takes 45 minutes. You can get Amtrak from the loop direct to Arlington for something like $6 one-way. There are dozens of wonderful restaurants in Chicago. If I was in Chicago and had to have one great meal, I'd probably go to Gene & Georgetti on Clinton in the west loop area.

Dude if you're coming into Chicago via O'hare hope on a Metra rail train, it is only $5 for a weekend pass and drops you off at the doorstep of Arlington Park. Two places located within walking distance of the track are Sheraton and Hotel Indigo, call today cause I most likely see both being booked solid for that weekend. If their gone find a place located along the Metra line, cause that's where the best dining and brews can be found. Downtown Arlington closes down a street come Million weekend, exactly one block from train depot. Downtown Arlington, Palatine, Edison Park and many other towns along the line have excellent pubs. Don't waste money on cabs use it for beers and bets. The Metra line also services to Chicago, ride takes an hour. Oh, and did I mention beer is consumable aboard the Metra line, so even if you have a somewhat long trip just kick back with a Daily Racing Form and a beer......catch ya later dude

Yeah, but they have to go through alot to get to the correct train line, which could be confusing for someone that have never road the Metra and having to hop lines.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the line that goes thru OHare stops at Arlington.

If I'm not mistaken, I think you'd actually have to take the train back downtown to Union Station and then back out to Arlington Park on the Metra because all of the lines that go to the suburbs don't run into each other but are all joined at Union Station.

that's absolutely correct. to get to AP from O'Hare by train, you'd have to take the blue line (subway) downtown to Union Station, then transfer to a Metra train and go back out to the suburbs.... way too much of a pain to do.

No, you don't have to do that. You can take the "L Blue Line" from O'Hare to Jefferson Park and jump off there, and catch the Metra there to Arlington Park

Good call -- still just seems like a lot of work when the airport is really so close to the park already.
