I like Brooks. He's got a gift for scoring the ball and he's got a lot of talent. I am worried about his game fitting into the NBA though. While watching him play, it seemed to me that he improved a ton when they started using Porter at the point. Brooks never seemed like a natural at that position and I'm afraid that he'd have to be in the NBA because there just isn't a really big market for 6'0 shooting guards. As I said, he can play so I'm pretty sure he can make a team and contribute a little something but I don't think he'll have a really big impact.

The Knicks/Blazers trade makes no sense at all to me. I don't understand why they never went to Seattle and tried to work out a sign and trade with Lewis. That would have been perfect for both teams. I understand that they wanted to get rid of Randolph and that he's more of a numbers guy than an impact guy but he's still 23+ and 10+ a night. Those guys just aren't growing on trees. To give him away for basically nothing makes no sense at all. They are going to buy out Francis' contract so they traded Randolph for Channing Fry. U've got to be kidding me. Surely, there was more out there that they could have gotten for Randolph. For the Knicks, I don't understand it much either. Who really believes that Curry and Randolph can exist on the same court? Not I. Also, Randolph is a guy that found trouble in Indiana and in Portland. I'm not sure but I think trouble can be found in NYC.

For the Knicks the trade makes sense in that they got a valuble player for the cap space where Francis for the money he was making was a nonproductive asset. They had to give up Frye but he would not be compatable with the Curry/Randolph combination anyway. Portland needed to get Randolph out of town asap and there were probably no takers given that the whole league knew this. At least they were able to free up cap space by buying out the Francis contract and getting rid of ZR's contract. Getting Frye was a bonus. A case of addition by subtraction. There are so few teams with cap space that it is very hard to make deals.
