What's sad to me is that people still are paying to see these guys perform after all of the deaths and accusations of rampant abuse of steroids and the supposed encouragement by the people in charge.

What's sad is that wrestling will probably grow stronger from this tragedy. A huge, dysfunctional family bonding together in a time of crisis.

The non-racing public doesn't have the rosiest views of horseracing either...

Did one of Asmussen's horsies kill a mare and her foal and then himself? If not, I fail to see your point.

I was referring to your steroid comment and encouragement by people in charge.

And it's not just professional wrestlers who kill their wives and children. I can understand you don't like wrestling...I feel the same about NASCAR, but I don't view the entire industry as classless.

So this makes the fact that he took the life of his wife and child a non issue or no big deal?? what do all of these folks listed have to do with this situation, besides that they shared the same profession?

If he was mentally ill, like you claimed, then why didn't anyone in his profession notice? Why aren't there mental evaluations of these wrestlers in the WWE and WCW or whatever the **** abbreviation it's under? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at that list and see that something doesn't add up.

The fact is the WWE/WCW/NAMBLA doesn't give a fu.ck about anything but money. And taking measures to protect their entertainers is a waste of money to them because they can just go out and hire another meathead to hug another meathead for 5 minutes and charge thousands of meatheads $50 to watch it.

Agreed...

My sister feels that way in fact. She finds horseracing cruel.

There is a HUGE oversight on the point here.......Its not whether he is a wrestler on roids, a CEO on cocaine or a ditch dgger who drinks a 12 pack a day......the fact of the matter is that an innnocent wife and son were taken by the one person in the world who is supposed to protect, love and care for them no matter what. There was obviously something extremely wrong and unfortunately innocent people got caught in the middle......Mental illness does not discriminate against occupation and nationality!!

I really don't know if he was mentally ill. All I heard what was just on the news, that he asphixiated (sp) his wife and son, then hanged himself in the basement. My guess is that he must have been very disturbed mentally to do this. I feel badly for his wife and son, and wish he had gotten help.
Seems that there are lots of stories lately about fathers killing their wives and children in the news. Tragic stuff!

I would think mental illness most definitely does 'discriminate' against occupation.

Yes, of course. I would expect that some occupations correlate far higher than others to incidence of MI.

Mental illness is too often used as an excuse. Could it be some humans are just plain evil?

Agreed. But what explains the suddeness of it? If someone is evil in this manner wouldnt it have reared its head a along time ago?

It certainly is scary when you see other stories like this of seemingly normal people who just 'snapped' one day.

Did he all of a sudden become mentally ill? Fact is some need the excuse of mental illness so as not to cast judgement. We now all know he was Canadian so medical coverage obviously was not the problem.
