You'll have to give me some real examples.

Panty Raid is a joke by the way. The field she beat, with a perfect trip, in the Black Eyed Susan was disgraceful.

When was the last time a filly won the Comely and/or the Nassau then the Acorn? It's been a long time. Take any of those as examples...

Give me some actual examples.

Last year, Adieu came out of a 1 turn race (La Troienne) as the 9/5 favorite and flopped.
2005, speed type Splendid Blended (also the La Troienne I believe) was 2-1 finished 4th.
2004, Society Selection (a filly I liked very much) came out of a win in the Comely and finished 2nd at 2-1.

Adieu was always slow. Splendid Blended hardly embarrassed herself in a pretty tough rendition and Society Selection....well you know.

I would say that Dream Rush enters this Acorn with a stronger hand. Believe me, I'm rarely sold, and I want to see the pps, but Dream Rush will be tough unless there is significant speed in this race.

I know you aren't, and I love that we're arguing a race that hasn't even been drawn yet! Maybe there won't be anyone interesting to beat her with. I just hate settling for the obvious choice in a race like this, especially on a big day where the obvious selection goes off at 3/5 instead of even money.

I'm retracting all my ideas in the Acorn... Dream Rush is impossible to beat.

Jersey Girl in 98 and Star de Lady Ann in 96 are the only two to win the Nassau and Acorn in the same year. Of course the Nassau has only been run 11 times.

Ruffian did pretty well in the Acorn after winning the Comely.

Mom's Command and Meadow Star did similarly.

Those races have changed substantially in the last twenty years, and not just because the Nassau County used to be a premier 1 1/8 race for older horses, and the fields are substantially weaker. I would like the list of supposed good horses that came out of the Comely or Nassau County and bombed in the Acorn.

Remember those stretch battles between Meadow Star and Light Lite? Those were one of a handful of races to really get me juiced on the sport.

Oh, come on. You can't possibly use Ruffian against me! That's bringing a bazooka to a knife fight.
