The story on the Belmont is that while considered one of the American Classics, it is basically a meaningless race outside of the framework of a Triple Crown attempt. Short fields of questionable quality who compete an an obsolete distance on dirt.

The Belmont is a useless race unless you are going for the Triple Crown. Why race 1 1/2 miles when you can wait for the Jim Dandy, Haskell and Travers.
I also read where Pletcher is still considering Rags To Riches and Quay. Does anyone know how serious he is about entering one of both of them into the Belmont? |
