there have been 12 female trainers for the derby. Latest was Mulhall and Pedersen in '04 who was the first woman to train a horse in ky. derby??? |

1937, Mary Hirsch sent out No Sir to finish 13th. Mary was well bred for training, being "by" Max Hirsch. She trained Travers winner Thanksgiving in '38.
