Stop by Springdale in Camden if you're in that neck of the woods. There's a great viewing stand at the training track where you can watch gallops. In addition to many of the top jump horses, there are also a fair number of flat horses trained there, and consigners like Kip Elser are also working their horses there practically everyday. And, of course, the National Steeplechase Museum is located there. Hang around a while and you'll bump into some the top trainers and riders.

Not for horse racing, but...
You can always make a trip up to the best University in the South, Clemson University. Clemson is a beautiful day trip. Maybe you can even catch a baseball game, and watch the Tigers kick some butt. ![]() |
