I'm glad you brought this into the conversation. I watched both the Shoot Around, which was won by a female, and the women's play off...felt a real sense of satisfaction for my kind. I happen to also listen to Imus in the early mornings....hearing him belittle the accomplishment was yet another one of those "slight humiliations" we females have to hear all the time when we demonstrate a level of competence in "a man's world."

I have a personal theory that people stop changing their hairstyles at the point in life when they are happiest (which indicates to me that Rod Stewart and Liza Minelli were both happiest around 1973). Imus appears to have gone overboard, with not only his hair but his wardrobe calling back to a kinder, simpler time when he was perhaps, more popular and when his system could actually handle all the illicit substances he put into it.

Though, applying this theory means Tucker Carlson was happiest in 1958, and I'm not sure he was technically alive then.

Well,I heard a little more of the whole incident today........Sure enough,Don didn't come up with the word Ho.No,that was thrown in by Bernard saying "Hardcore Ho(s)." Don didn't think.He just instantly put "Nappy-headed" along with it.I think it is very important that he dump Bernard.Bernard is responsible for almost all of the comments that are over the line.People are very upset about using the word "ho" to describe any of these students.Well,it wouldn't have happened if Bernard wasn't there.I don't think Don is a bad person,but I am not sure(at all) about Bernard.Imus is responsible for what goes on,and if he says he is gunna change the show,then I think Bernard(for sure)has to go.His whole reason for being there was to go over the line like this.Bernard's comedy may be acceptable for a club,but not for a national daily t.v. show.I am not a guy big on controlling speech,and I don't think calling somebody ugly is over the line.If it is,then we gotta stop commenting about body part size etc.,because people can't control these things.People haven't been hurt physically for being ugly etc. in this country.They have been physically injured for being Black,or gay.So,I see race and sexual orientation as areas these guys need to stop "rapping about" when comedy is the point of the conversation at hand.I didn't say Don should be fired.I think you will get mixed views on that. Those that were fortunate enough to see the class that the women of the Rutgers basketball team demonstrated at their press conference, the dignity and poise they possess, have seen fine young student atheletes that should serve as positive role models for not only black people, but also women of any color. They gained my respect even more for their intelligence than they had previously for their athletic abilities. Their parents should feel pride in their daughters equal to that which their eloquent coach expressed.
