well, i haven't said tiago is my derby horse, nor is he a maiden.
shame you can't enjoy a race, and say anything about the winner, without being dressed down. regardless of field strength, tiago is now a gsw-who knows where he goes from here?

He's not my top pick but I can see this horse winning the Derby with right set-up, etc. . . He's gonna be severely underlaid, however, because of the Giacomo comparisons. . .

Giacomo was a MUCH better horse than Tiago going into the Derby---and you aren't going to get 50/1 on Tiago.

His 2 yo 2nd to Declans was pretty good. He got beat by a wide margn in the Felipe while.

What in the world made him more acomplished?

The 2nd to Declans Moon or his trouncing of Wilko?

No way....Giacomo had 1 win(maiden) going into the Derby. He had been a disappointment. This is why he paid more at Churchill than he did to people who played him in futures back in January.I think we saw this horse's best pitch yesterday, and someday we will see it again.I do believe this was his big race(like the Derby was Giacomo's big race.)Just like with Giacomo, everything came together that had to.I only saw the 2nd half of the card, but I reviewd the dirt races for the day.Tiago picked about the best day of the meet to be a rater(there haven't been many of those this meet.)Not like he was the only bomb on the dirt yesterday.I hope he does well in the Derby, but he and his half bro are not win machines. They are class horses that can win if things all line up right.I will say this though,TIAGO caught a horse who was not exactly swerving side to side.I mean Roxy ran pretty well late.

I thought Roxy looked tired and finished second on class alone.

i don't think he can get the 10....they had questions about him handling the distance, i wouldn't run him past 9. but it's not up to me obviously!

I agree with the second part, and you know how much I agree with your opinion but I think Tiago has more natural talent then Giacomo.

You know it just dawned on me, becuase I have such a funny handle I bet you dont even know who this is.

Is Tiago even nominated to the Derby? The reason I ask is that in my Equibase "Road to the Triple Crown" email, they do not list him in the SA Derby report, but they do list the 2nd-6th place finishers, as well as Boutrous and Level Red.

I tried to find an online list of the 450 early nom's, but couldn't. (I did find a list of the 10 late nom's, and Tiago isn't among them.)

Thanks, Brian. I wonder why Equibase left him out.

What's the link to the list of nominated horses?

I predict he will be just like Lava Man,everytime he ships ,he will get his ASS HANDED TO HIM,Just like every California shipper did yesterday.

it's possible...or maybe not.

it's the kentucky derby, we all know anything can happen. it doesn't matter who won what the last six months, or at two...it matters who is getting right at the right time, and can handle the distance, the trip, the track, the crowd.

it's a shame that each race can't be enjoyed for what it is, rather then all these historic races being labelled another prep. the 'best' get to run in may--but winning, or losing, the wood for example, or the bluegrass, doesn't tell you much imo about what'll happen in may!

Dont you evaluate each race as their own, are you actually trying to say california horses dont win their fair share of races when they ship?

Interesting that Ermine could not win in california then wins the apple blossom, did you step down in class?
