I met Reed's dad, who's been suffering from severe heart problems, when I attended my first Derby in '01. Herbie Reed and his wife have a nice B&B ("Rabbit Creek") near Keeneland and are lovely people. And the story behind Catman and his owner Joe Harris, who is a miraculous cancer survivor after complete blood marrow transplanting in Germany, is great. Reed had this colt's brother, who was a barn pet but brokedown in a workout in 2005. When Catman came up in the KEE '05 'Fall Sale, Reed jumped on him with Harris' OK. Reed has felt this was a special runner from the day he got him.

One my absolute favorite films bar none.. An hysterical ode to Sid Ceasar and his writing team.. The Benjy character (Mark Baker) is based on Woody Allen's experiences as the freshman writer on 'Your Show of Shows' the week Errol Flynn was to be a guest...

Looking at this race I think we are going to get a price. Catman Running has a great pattern and could get a great trip.
I watched all of Hawthorne races from today. Some things to take from it if you don't play Hawthorne that much are... 1) Their was a serious tail wind on the backstretch, up to 40 miles per hour at some points 2) If you weren't within two lengths of the lead, you had no shot, same will be tomorrow unless they do something drastic. 3) Stay away from Shane Laviolette, he is as worthless as they come 4) RAIL RAIL RAIL
