Who cares who uses steroids. It isn't a reporters responsibility to control steroids. It is Bud Selif's job to make sure baseball is free of steroids. Gammoms doesn't report on steroids because he doesn't care. What benefit does do to report a story about a team using steroids. If I had my way, steroids would be legal so we wouldn't have to hear about this garbage all the time.

Gammons makes no bones about being a Red Sox fan, and his reporting is fair and accurate. I love the trade rumors he has and all the leads. Now his knowledge of the game pales in comparison to Reynolds, Kruk and Morgan. But he isn't there for baseball startegy, he is there to report on rumors and try and report it as accurate as possible. I don't know how anyone can fault anyone for doing something they love.

He is a reporter. It is his job to report what he knows. Gammons looks the other way. That is what make him a go to guy for GM's and players. I will give you info if you make baseball look good. Fact is that Gammons is more of a salesman for baseball than a reporter. That guy knows what color underwear players are wearing, don't tell me he didn't know about steroids in the game.

Being a contracted reporter he can choose what he wants to report and what he doesnt. He chooses to report the good side of baseball. There are plenty of other people who only look at the negative (Jay Mariotti) side of baseball. Again, he is an independent contractor--he can report on what he wants. He isnt obligated to report every story.

Peter Gammons, a highly respected Major League Baseball journalist, serves as a studio analyst on ESPN's Baseball Tonight.

That is his bio from ESPN.

You are not a journalist if you are really just a salesman for baseball. I guess reporting on steroids went against the salesman job. He has a degree I believe in journalism from Chapel Hill. He should know better than to be a coverup man for baseball.

What does his bio have to do with anything? A journalist reports a story. That is exactly what he does. Just because he doesnt report what you want doesnt mean he is any less of a journalist.
