Another I could add, that I came across in the market in recent seasons, is donut peaches. Strange things, they are. The look like a flesh colored, rose toned hockey puck. And their flesh is white. And they do not have the same sweet flavor as that of the other summer peaches.

There you go D-G.. I've seen those.. Who would eat one? And why? And what's up with 'star fruit'?

Star fruit is useless, I had just as soon eat a rubberband. It makes a fine garnish adding to presentation in the better eateries; still beyond that, forget it.

Also, shipped in during these winter months, small watermelons that are the size of cantalope or honey dews. Dark green, deliciously sweet and juicy inside with far fewer seeds. At $5.00 a piece, I still love them, though I love them better on sale.

Pants, I can't eat avacados, they are way, way to fattening. Too rich, they'll clog your arteries, big time. Don't you be messing with to many of those. They'll hurt ya.

Pants you keep believing that stuff, right up until you post your final photo. LOLOL

Heres another one I like to do with pasta. Have y'all seen broccolini? Smaller, thinner than the usual, thinner than most aspagarus.

Does anyone else here cook or go to the market except us three?

I have not ever met a SoCal that did not love guacamole. Never.

Up in Toga we have those but the REAL hit is the YELLOW FLESH WATERMELON... Like juicy cotton candy. Unbelievable... And the jersey melons up here of course in late July-early August. I bring in a bushel of the watermelons and hand (jersey) melons to the Barbecue every week. I give them to the 'special guests' around the 'Cue... Especially the yellow watermelon. No one has ever seen them. Mustapha Fastok LOVES the damn things, and Nick Zito loves the cantelopes. I give him one whenever he heads back to the barn.

The smaller watermelons In SoCal are called "Dulcinea"...no seeds! Spectacular! They have a "season" also

Timm, what a lovely sounding name! They sound like those we have here. So good.

And DD, blood oranges are the strangest thing to me, I can't hang with them, they are just so deep colored and odd. Something we do have in the early winter that comes up from Florida is "Rubies", the deep red-not pink grapefruit, now those I love, but they're not as blood colored as the oranges, and we only have them for a short time.

I feel a desire welling up y'all, I can't fight it any longer, I can't sustain. I'm just going to have to succumb to it and let it go . . . in the freezer are three little pints of unopened Haagen Dazs, one Vanilla Bean, one Strawberry, and one Coffee.

I'm going to have to fix a small bowl with a scoop of each. All this good food talk has made me abandon my senses. I love Haagen Dazs, (really love Chunky Monkey too.)

I'm gonna be really decadent and fix a small brandy glass of Tia Maria to go with it.

Wish you could join me. Later.

Hmmm... I can't compete with the Haagen Daz, but I DO have an ice cold beer in my hand right now. That'll have to do.

Well I guess that's ok. Just don't eat the avocados.
