I think that Hotstufanthensome looks like a HUGE threat in here second off a big layoff and running figures competitive with the "best" in here. Obviously Jambalaya is going to tough back off of the last one. I like to throw Ramazutti out as fast as I can in any race and let him beat me.

My play would be Murch, lightly on top, and underneath in every spot. I think this horse should be a big price on the board and with any improvement off his last could contend to boost the exotics.

I'd say:

1. Murch
2. Hotstufanthensome
3. Jambalaya
4. Revved Up

Murch?? from PP12?

I'm only on my third glass of wine so I can't see that one getting there yet!

DUDE, if this were a contest to single the winner, I'd go with someone else, but this one is going to be overlooked a bunch in the wagering and only needs a small step forward from his last to contend for the top few spots.

I'm not being delusional putting him on top thinking he's a real threat on the top stuff, I just am using the Byk strategy of putting a horse like that on top based on the odds he'll offer. Do I think he's the most likely winner? No way. Would he surprise me completely? No.

If he moves forward any from his last, he's a threat in most spots, even if not the top spot.

I wouldn't say definitively that he's good enough to win, but this field with the exception with a very few, is wide open.

has he ever run a mile and a half though?

He doesn't run longer than 1 3/8 often. And one of his performances that I hold in relatively good esteem was his 6th at Arlington. He got beaten a bit more than two for the whole thing in the American Derby last year (I think that was it?) and that was at 1 3/16.

looking at everything, bris sheets, etc. first pass impressions...

Jambalaya - all systems go, horses he beat have come back to win stakes or are running for millions in Dubai. best sheet numbers at the distance. strong

Revved Up is in the mix, less of a win candidate but if the trip works out he is there.

Interpatation - always runs the same race, won't get there but may be in super

Fri Guy - To me a possible upset candidate with new jockey, better trip, last race Cruz burned the pace too quickly for 1 3/8ths. If Victor gets this one to relax, who knows? it looks like there may be developing talent here.

Ramuzzutti - doesn't finish well, doubtful

Hotstuf, great sheets for lesser distance, speed is always goo to have for 12 furlongs. has a shot because he will be in the leading group turning for home. depends on pace.

Dynatonia can make a run for lower placings.

If they ran the race 100000 he would not win it once.
