Good move for Tubby. Going from a place that demands excellence to a program that demands nothing.
With no expectations, he can easily get away with a crappy record, but unfortunately, the name "Minnesota" will not get you an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament like "Kentucky" does. I have liked Kentucky since the days of Jamal Mashburn (when I was a kid) and hope that they can get a big-name coach to come in. Anyone heard any speculation into who they are looking for? Seriously...
The Gophers will make the 'dance next year, BUT IT WILL HAVE NOTHIN TO DO WITH TUBBY BEIN THERE. If Molinari (the interim coach) would've stayed, he'd lead them to the dance next year. Their whole team is back (unless they lose some to transfer), and the big ten I think will be down next year. Wisconsin loses most of their main guys, and Oden will most likely go pro. But hopefully it'll help Tubby with recruiting based on next year. When the Gophers ar in the 7-10 first round game next year, Tubby will be viewed as a genious. But it won't really have much to do with him. But I hope it'll help recruiting.
