He lost by a head bob while running significantly wider. How did he have everything going for him? Using the trainer's pre-race excuse in case his horse got beat is an absolutely silly justification that Street Sense wasn't fit. It was the first race off the layoff so was the best chance for AGS to beat him but SS got a much better trip which offset that. In the end there was virtually nothing separating the two. Street Sense and Any Given Saturday are the only two 3yos out there with two triple digit Beyers at this point. Only Nobiz Like Shobiz has a better 3rd best Beyer than AGS (by one point). To dismiss him off this race is borderline insane.

Call me insane,but I am dismissing him as far as winning the Derby goes.I won't be surprised if he runs a close 2nd,but he will not be 1st.Somebody will beat him.

OK, well I can't call someone saying a horse might run a close 2nd in the Derby to be dismissing him. It will be a 20 horse field that hasn't even been drawn yet so suggesting a horse won't do better than a close 2nd is hardly putting your neck on the chopping block. You can't call a horse second tier that you think will be right there at the wire in the Stampede sponsored by Yum Brands.

I'm boxing all of Pletcher's horses. I have a feeling they'll run great on Derby day.

im not dismissing him off this race, i never thought he could win the derby, even before this race i thought he was solid but not good enough and i still feel the same way he's a good second tier horse, and i'd be shocked if he won the bluegrass or kentucky derby

I feel that Street Sense and Any Given Saturday will run 1-2 in THE Derby.....They are the 2 best of their generation....Also, I am a huge SS fan and have been since day one...I feel he is a better horse than AGS, but I also feel AGS would be better off if JV chose CQ or another of TP's ponies. I think AGS needs a rider who can throw him down until they are ready to push the button. No knock on JV, I just feel that GoGo, Cornelio or Prado even are better fits for him than JV.

Wow, that is a prediction right there. I'd say neither will be in the superfecta.

Fast pace, SS saves every inch of ground and an absolute perfect trip and he wins by about an inch. AGS was closer to the fast pace and lost more ground. AGS probably ran the superior race. So how do you see one possibly winning and the other not cracking the top 5?

What you say is true, but you could also look at the race this way, AGS had a race under him, and it was on that track. SS was coming off a long layoff and may have more room to improve off that effort than AGS. I am not saying I see it that way, but that would be a reasonable way to look at it.

jv is the best rider on the east coast, possibly in america, i think cornelio gomez and prado are all close but jv is the best, you can say its because of todd but when i watch i always see jv putting his horse in position to win
